Jesse Marsch claims his side are not afraid to face a big club like Tottenham Hotspur

Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch has claimed that his side are not afraid to face a big club like Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs host The Whites this Saturday for their final match before the World Cup.

Speaking ahead of the game, the Leeds coach said that his side are ‘not afraid’ of big opponents and that they plan to play ‘confidently’, as quoted in the Independent.

“We know this is a big challenge once again against a top opponent in our league that is disciplined to play the way they do. But the beauty of where we are is that we are not perfect but we are not afraid, we have shown this year that we are not afraid of big opponents. We are going to go down and play confidently and go after the game in every way. We have been talking internally about being winners, that in a lot of these matches we are right in it.”

The Whites have proven themselves to be tough opponents to face this season. They have already beaten the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool and gave a tough time to Arsenal despite losing against them.

The Yorkshire-based club have been good this season as compared to their last. They narrowly managed to avoid relegation last season, but are now 12th on the table with 15 points, three ahead of the relegation place.

Antonio Conte’s side meanwhile have been poor in their past couple of games. They have suffered back-to-back defeats in all competitions and are currently fourth on the table with 26 points, eight behind leaders and rivals Arsenal.

Both the clubs are equal on paper when compared with head-to-head statistics. These two have met each other 28 times in the Premier League, with both sides winning 11 each. Six games have ended as draws.

Fans will hope for a win this time after their club were embarrassed 4-0 last time these two met back in February. But it won’t be easy and Conte will be aware of that. Hopefully, Spurs win the game and also strengthen their position in the top four in the process.
