Tottenham Hotspur’s Ivan Perisic joins four-man World Cup list after goal for Croatia vs Japan
Tottenham Hotspur star Ivan Perisic became only the fourth player to score in the last three World Cups after his goal for Croatia against Japan, as per ESPN.
Perisic scored an amazing header from a Dejan Lovren cross to equalise the scoreline on the night. The game finished 1-1 and the Croats won on penalties after three saves from Dominik Livakovic.
He has been a World Cup marvel for Croatia – leading their charge to the final of the 2018 edition in Russia. Perisic joins Xherdan Shaqiri of Switzerland, Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal, and Argentina’s Lionel Messi as the only players to score in the last three World Cups.
He scored twice and provided one assist in the 2014 edition in Brazil. His team was eliminated in the group stages but his performance against Cameroon in the 4-0 group-stage win was one for the ages.
Super Perisic
His crowning moment came in Russia four years later where he scored one and assisted another in a 2-1 semi-final win over England. He also scored in the final in the 4-2 defeat against France, making it three goals for him in the tournament.
The goal against Japan was his first in Qatar. He is now cementing his legacy as one of Croatia’s best-ever players.
With 32 goals in 119 games at the international level, the 33-year-old continues to be the hero for his team when they need him the most. Another final appearance with Croatia would be an amazing achievement.
Perisic has carried this form with Spurs as well. Ever since his free transfer from Inter Milan, the former Bayern Munich star has been a constant threat in attack down the left flank and has been surprisingly solid in defence as well.

We wish him the best for the tournament because he would need it the most in the next game. They are likely to play Brazil in the quarter-final if the Selecao Canarinho beat South Korea in the last 16 on 7 November.
