Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan, and Arsenal three possible destinations for Barcelona star Ferran Torres

A report from Spanish outlet Fichajes has listed Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and AC Milan as the three possible destinations for FC Barcelona winger Ferran Torres ahead of the January transfer window.

Torres joined Barca from Manchester City in December 2021 for a fee of 55million Euros. But that transfer hasn’t worked out so far, with the Spaniard scoring 12 times and assisting seven goals in 44 games across competitions for the club.

He is a versatile attacker who can play down the flanks as well as down the middle, as he has done for Spain in recent months. He was in the 26-man La Roja squad who were embarrassed by Morocco in the round of 16.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have the electric Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele to play down the flanks while Raphinha has also been preferred by manager Xavi Hernandez since the Brazilian’s arrival from Leeds United.

What should Spurs do?

Robert Lewandowski is the club’s undisputed number nine. He is into his 30s and not immune from injuries but as of now, there doesn’t seem to be a place in the false 9 role for Torres.

Spurs would be wise to take advantage of this situation. Arsenal and AC Milan have also been mentioned as two potential destinations for the former Valencia winger.

Manager Mikel Arteta, who shares the same nationality as Torres, has shown a proclivity towards entrusting youngsters to his starting XI. The formula has worked so far as they lead the Premier League table by five points.

But Tottenham themselves could use a player of Torres’ ilk. Injuries to Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, and Lucas Moura showed us that we can use one more world-class option in our frontline.

Bryan Gil hasn’t been getting minutes under manager Antonio Conte and the level of quality and depth that Torres would add to our team would be brilliant. It remains to be seen, however, if Barca will place a modest price tag on their 22-year-old attacker or not – a player they signed just a year ago.
