Neymar Jr. responds to Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min’s post after FIFA World Cup heartbreak
Neymar Jr.’s Brazil secured a momentous win over Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min’s South Korea in the last 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Selecao Canarinho scored four goals in quick succession before taking their foot off the pedal. Vinicius Junior, Neymar, Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta got on the scoresheet in the first half.
South Korea scored a consolation goal late in the game and that is all they could manage before the whistle blew to confirm the 4-1 scoreline. Richarlison posted an emotional message for his Tottenham Hotspur teammate on Twitter.
That was expected given their allegiance at the club level. But what was a bit unexpected was Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star Neymar paying his respects to the former Bayer Leverkusen star.
Son posted a heartfelt message to South Korea fans before his team’s elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup. An excerpt from his long Instagram post read:
“Hello, this is Heungmin Son, the representative of Korea for the Qatar World Cup. I am writing this to thank you for all your support, support, and interest. During four years, I have tried many things and ran forward towards my dream.”
“Not every time there were good moments, but I think those bad moments made us stronger and made the national team we are. We were able to overcome every moment with your constant support from behind!”
The former Barcelona winger wrote “LEGEND [clap emoji]”.
Neymar’s Brazil were themselves dumped out of the competition by Croatia, which featured former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric. The game finished 1-1 before Croatia won 4-2 on penalties.

Both Richarlison and Son Heung-min will, hence, have additional time to recover and recoup before the season resumes at club level. Son played for South Korea with a mask on and there is no reason why he can’t do the same for us.
