Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur learn price for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Metro), Juventus would be willing to sell midfielder Weston McKennie for around €30 million in January amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs along with rivals Chelsea have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old. However, they are not the only ones interested, as the player’s representatives have supposedly already spoken with Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa.

The Villans are a highly ambitious club who could promise McKennie playing time – something Spurs may not be able to do so with Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s incredible consistency and form.

McKennie has been crucial for the Old Lady this season and has featured in 16 games for the Turin-based club this season so far in all competitions. He can also double up as a right midfielder, which could be an asset for Spurs given their proclivity to play in a 3-4-2-1 formation.

He also played an important role in helping the USMNT reach the Round of 16 of this year’s World Cup. The box-to-box midfielder earned plenty of praise for his performance, adding to his already strong reputation.

Antonio Conte could do with a midfielder like the former Schalke man in his side. While the duo of Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been formidable for us in the midfield, they have no such competition from the bench.

Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp have failed to provide tough competition, making the need to add reinforcements in that department. As such, adding a midfielder like McKennie for so less price could prove to be a bargain for the club.

The north London club also share a relationship with the Turin-based club, courtesy of Conte and sporting director Fabio Paratici. Hopefully, this will give us an advantage over the other clubs.

We already shopped in Turin in January, when Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski arrived at N17. If McKennie is added to the list, then it could only be good news for our fans.
