Tottenham Hotspur could be interested in signing Stefan de Vrij from Inter Milan
De Vrij was part of the Netherlands team that was dumped out of the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup on penalties by Argentina. He will be returning to the Italian club for the time being.
However, his contract expires (Transfermarkt) at the end of the season with Inter Milan. The player is eligible to speak to foreign clubs in January.
Antonio Conte could see this as a major opportunity to bring the experience centre back to Spurs. Conte knows all about what the player can offer, having signed him from Lazio during his spell at Inter Milan.
With Clement Lenglet loan deal from FC Barcelona expiring at the end of the season, Fabio Paratici an co. could look at the Dutchman as a cheaper alternative and someone who could be entrusted easily into the team, having been used to playing in a back 3.
Although De Vrij fell down the pecking order behind Virgil van Dijk, Jurrien Timber, Nathan Ake and Matthijs De Ligt. There are no doubts over the abilities possessed by the 30 year old defender, who still has a few years left of playing at the top level.
