Tottenham are set to enter fresh contract talks with Antonio Conte

According to the Athletic, Tottenham are set to enter a fresh round of talks with manager Antonio Conte over the prospect of the Italian signing a new long-term contract.

Spurs have wanted to tie the Italian manager down to a new deal with his current one set to expire come the summer. It has been a fairly successful time for Conte at N17 and the club wants the association to continue.

Conte joined Spurs as their manager midway through last season replacing Nuno Espirito Santos at the helm. He took over the club in a very dire state and if anything, he has definitely managed to steady the ship.

The Lilywhites have made quite a steady start to the season this time around and find themselves fourth in the table with 14 games played. Spurs also managed to top their Champions League group.

The club have also supported Conte and backed him a lot, with the Italian manager splashing the cash in the summer to bring in players like Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence amongst others to reinforce the squad.

The report claims that talks were supposed to start last week but had to be pushed back as Fabio Paratici was busy. Spurs will be hoping that the negotiations would be seamless and they could get this sorted really soon.

In 58 matches that he has been in charge of Spurs, Conte has 33 wins, nine draws and 16 losses with a points-per-match of 1.86. His team have scored 111 goals till now whilst conceding 64 goals.

Conte has shown in this time that he is the right man to lead the club forward. If Spurs wish to break their trophy drought any time soon, it is likely to happen when the Italian is the coach of the club.
