Steve Nicol urges Liverpool to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur target Sofyan Amrabat
Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol has urged his old side to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur target and Florentina and Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. North London rivals Arsenal are also interested in the 26-year-old.
Jurgen Klopp is in dire need to reinforce his ageing midfield, as the Reds have struggled for consistency in the middle of the park this season. Antonio Conte has been having similar problems.
While Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur have been phenomenal for us, the rest of the midfielders have struggled to provide tough competition to the go-to duo. This has left the need for adding new faces to that department during the January transfer window.

Amrabat has caught the eye of everyone with his performance for Morocco in the World Cup. The Florentina man was the engine for his country helping them reach a historic semi-final spot in the competition for the first time in their history.
Now, while speaking to ESPN (h/t Express), former Reds defender Nicol has urged the Merseyside to make a move for the 26-year-old.
“I think if Amrabat’s available, I think there is no question. Liverpool needs bulking up in the middle of the park and he would be absolutely fantastic.”
It is understood that the midfielder, who sees his current contract expire in 2024 (transfermarkt) will be available if a bid of around £35 million is tabled to the Serie A side. However, with all the clubs interested in the player, a potential bidding war cannot be ruled out.
Conte has seen his midfield and even at times, his defence suffer. Should Amrabat be signed he could control the midfield, allowing Bentancur to attack more freely and increasing our chances of finding the back of the net.
