Tottenham Hotspur forward Dejan Kulusevski sheds light on the gruelling training sessions under Antonio Conte
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is taking every step possible to get his team ready for the second half of the season and according to Swedish forward Dejan Kulusevski, the latest fitness regime for the players has been late-night runs in the dark.
Kuluseckski, while speaking to Daily Mail UK, explains how the training sessions have been harder than pre-season and involve a lot of running and gym as Conte gets his side physically ready for a gruelling campaign ahead.
“It has been like another pre-season. We just forgot everything and started over from the beginning with hard work and just a lot of running and gym.
I think it was a little harder than pre-season. We did a lot of running, a lot of gym. It has been a lot of training. So much running in the dark but in a way that is fun. Sometimes the light doesn’t work so you know you have to run in the dark.”
Dejan is sure of the few players who must be enjoying the training sessions having admitted it before that he prefers training sessions to be hard and that is partly the reason he has been so impressive under Conte.
It would be wise to say that others, who are not used to such fitness regimes, would prefer to stay till late at night and run in sub-zero temperatures.
That is the manner in which Conte conducts himself and expects his team to follow suit. A serial winner by nature, he would do everything in his power to get the next win.
Hence, it is very important that players are in proper shape both physically and mentally to be ready for a tough second half of the season where they need to be at their absolute best to solidify their position in the top four.
Conte is known for his notoriously tough training sessions and in the past has been one of the main factors behind his successful teams.
Wherever Conte has managed, be it at Chelsea, Juventus or Inter Milan he has won the league hence there should be no doubting his methods to achieve success as he has seen it all.
