Tottenham Hotspur target Youssoufa Moukoko now wants free Barcelona transfer
Tottenham Hotspur transfer target and Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko is focussed on making a free switch to Barcelona in the future, as per Spanish outlet SPORT (h/t Football.London).
The Germany international, who travelled to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, is also linked with moves to Arsenal and Chelsea as he is set to enter the final six months of his deal at the Westfalenstadion.
There have been talks of a renewal, but his agent recently denied such claims. A free transfer to Barcelona makes sense from a neutral point of view.
The Catalan giants signed Robert Lewandowski this summer from Bayern Munich and as good as the Poland international has been, the 34-year-old cannot escape father time. They also sold Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer to Chelsea.
Not the end of the world for Spurs
This means there is a nice little niche where Moukoko can fit into if he does make the move to Camp Nou. Given Barcelona’s success over the past few decades, there is no shame in admitting that for many players, they would be a more lucrative option when compared to Spurs.
But right now, the Lilywhites themselves don’t have a place in their first-team set-up to fit Mouokoko properly. Son Heung-min and Harry Kane are arguably irreplaceable for now in the starting XI.
Dejan Kulusevski is just 22 and destined to be one of the best wingers in the Premier League, if he isn’t one already, and Richarlison, who was just signed this summer, isn’t guaranteed a starting berth himself.
Of course, Moukoko would be a massive signing for the future but it would be a surprise if the teenager is willing to wait for several years for a regular chance in our team. Given his age, ability, and status at Bortmund and Die Mannschaft, he would surely want to be a regular starter wherever he goes.

A free transfer for him would invite big teams… no one would want to miss out signing potentially the next big thing in football for nothing. But it would surely be hard for Spurs to compete for him given the lack of space in their starting XI and the lack of a finished sporting project under manager Antonio Conte.
