Tottenham Hotspur can sign Chelsea target Denzel Dumfries for €30m
Tottenham Hotspur can sign Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries for around 30million Euros – a player who has also been on the radar of Chelsea, as claimed by Rudy Galetti (h/t Express).
The Netherlands international joined Inter just last year from PSV Eindhoven and continues to add to his reputation each season. He has been a regular under manager Simone Inzaghi.
There is no doubt that Dumfries is one of the first names on his team sheet. But I Nerazzurri are apparently happy to do business if a suitable offer arrives.
That should come as a boost to Spurs – the fact that Dumfries at least has a price tag, one that isn’t audacious. Chelsea’s interest is, of course, a concern considering they are also a huge club and can offer Dumfries the financial package he may seek.
A no-brainer
But they already have Reece James. Sure, the English right-back is out sidelined with an injury after suffering a fresh setback on his return to action earlier this month.
But he will be back in the team this season and if Dumfries joins, it would be a huge issue for manager Graham Potter regarding who he wants to start regularly. Will Dumfries be happy sitting on the bench at the age of 26?
Unlikely. Will James be happy with it? Not a chance, given how cut-throat a place in manager Gareth Southgate’s England backline is right now.
For Spurs, there is no doubt that he would be an instant upgrade on Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty. The two have had their moments, but are evidently not world-class in their position.

Dumfries, who played for the Netherlands regularly at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, is a balanced right-back who plays as a wing-back for club and country. He would be a smart acquisition and for that price tag, Spurs would be foolish not to at least sit at the negotiation table with Inter.
