Spurs Transfer News: Inter Milan to turn down Tottenham offer for Denzel Dumfries and Stefan De Vrij
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to offer 39million Pounds for Stefan De Vrij and Denzel Dumfries, but Inter Milan are set to decline this potential bid, as per Inter Live (h/t Express).
Manager Antonio Conte is eager for quality additions in the January transfer window as Spurs are struggling to get into the top four for an extended period of time. Defence is an area we can do with strengthening.
Eric Dier is average at times while Ben Davies is a left-back filling in at centre-half for nearly a year. Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga are, meanwhile, lacking the quality right now needed to be a regular starter for a ‘big six’ PL club.
De Vrij and Dumfries would be great additions. The Netherlands international is in the final year of his contract at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium (Transfermarkt) and would be an experienced head in our defence that looks like it can use a leader.
Spurs need these two signings
He is a real leader at the back and a dominating presence at the heart of his team’s defence. Dumfries would be an equally good addition at right-wing-back in place of Emerson Royal.
Matt Doherty has been decent as a backup but that is all he should be. Djed Spence isn’t getting a chance under Conte and perhaps won’t get any minutes in the near future as well, given how less he is trusted in the first team.
If that is the case, Dumfries needs to be signed. Spurs must up their offer. De Vrij could be signed on a cut-price deal if he makes it clear that he doesn’t want to extend his contract with I Nerazzurri.

But Dumfries, 26, is in the prime years of his career and only joined them in the summer of 2021 from PSV Eindhoven. It makes sense that they won’t accept our current valuation of the two players and it is on us to put forth an offer they can’t refuse.
