Tottenham Hotspur sent scouts to watch Anthony Gordon in Everton’s game vs Brighton

Tottenham Hotspur sent scouts to watch Anthony Gordon in Everton’s Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion on 3 January, as per the Daily Mail.

Manager Antonio Conte wants to strengthen his attacking line, and that desire would have been amplified following Dejan Kulusevski and Ricahrlison’s injury struggles this season.

However, their trip to the Amex was largely a waste as Gordon was not present in manager Frank Lampard’s squad. They lost 4-1 against the Seagulls – a surprise loss considering they recently held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw in the league.

Spurs have been one of the teams linked with Brighton’s 2022 FIFA World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister. However, the 24-year-old midfielder was also out of manager Roberto De Zerbi’s squad after only recently returning to training.

Spurs would be wise to sign Gordon

Gordon has pace to burn down the flanks and while he is a little rough around the edges, there is potential in him to be a world-class forward. He isn’t of an age where people would realistically expect to see him as a starting winger at a ‘big six’ club.

If he agrees to a squad role for now, it would be ideal for us. When fit, it is hard to see any player dislodge Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Harry Kane, and Son Heung-min from the pecking order.

But with our injury issues, it is always wise to add a quality player up front. We signed Richarlson from the Toffees this summer.

Hopefully, they are kind enough to do business with us again when it comes to Gordon. He is a home-grown player and with 64 senior games under his belt, has an idea of what English football is all about.
