Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane on chasing Alan Shearer’s PL goals record
Alan Shearer’s Premier League record of 260 goals is in danger of being overtaken by Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur in a few seasons’ time.
This record makes a striker invincible. Shearer won the Premier League in the 1994-95 Premier League appearances, but whenever his name is mentioned, it is almost always associated with his goals record in the PL.
Kane is just 29 years old and has several years ahead of him. He also has one-and-a-half year left on his contract at N17 (Transfermarkt) and, knock on wood, his fitness recently has been immaculate.
If he stays here for a while, there is every possibility that he smashes that record. He has 198 goals to his name in 300 appearances in the competitions to date.
Shearer amassed his tally in 441 games. If you pull the calculator out, Kane is scoring at a better rate than the former Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers striker.
When asked about the prospect of touching Shearer’s record, Kane said after his team’s 4-0 win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on 4 January (h/t BBC):
“It’s always nice and being spoken about with names like Alan is always good. I’ll just have to keep it going and see what happens. I’m feeling fresh. I’m feeling fit. So hopefully I can finish the season strongly.”
Kane scored two goals in his team’s 2-0 win over the Eagles. His tally in the Premier League is up to 15 goals in 18 games this season.

He is vital to our chances of winning our first bit of silverware since 2008. His future if he doesn’t extend his deal at the club is a cause for worry for us Spurs fans but hopefully, Shearer’s record is one of the factors that keep him motivated to continue with us in England.
