Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane hails victory over Crystal Palace
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has hailed his side’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace as an ‘important moment’ in their season. This win was the first for the north London side this year.
Spurs got off to a very poor start in 2023. They lost 2-0 to Aston Villa at home on New Year’s Day and there was nervousness among the fans before the Palace game. The Lilywhites had a decent first half but were rampant and dominant in the second one.
Kane scored two and was crucial for the other two goals too from Matt Doherty and Heung-min Son as Spurs managed to cut the gap to fourth-placed Manchester United to two points, although they have played one game less.

Now, speaking after the game as quoted in the Daily Mail, the England captain agreed when asked if it was an ‘important moment’ in the season for his side.
“Yeah for sure. We scored at a really important time in the game. Really good win, the games are coming thick and fast so it was nice to get three points here. We’ve not had the best results in the last couple of games. But it was nice to put that performance in today.”
Antonio Conte would have been pleased with his side. The Eagles have proven themselves to be a very tricky opponent to go up against, but the north London side made it look like a walk in the park with their dominant second-half performance.
While Kane was the star of the show, Bryan Gil and Doherty too very impressive. Both the players have struggled for game time this season and last night they showed to the boss that they can be relied upon going forward.
However, it will be wise for the players to not feel overconfident now with this win. There is still a long way to go and Conte’s men have a couple of very tricky and difficult fixtures coming up ahead.

Spurs will host League One side Portsmouth for the FA Cup third round on Saturday (January 7). While a win is most likely, they will then play back-to-back games against Arsenal and Manchester City in the league.
Results in the latter two games could potentially give us a hint of where we will end up on the table come the month of May.
