Tottenham Hotspur handed huge boost in the race for James Maddison
Speaking in an interview as quoted by Football. London, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has hinted at the financial difficulty that the club are going through hinting that raising funds is really difficult.
One way to raise funds is by selling players and the Foxes might be pushed into such a scenario to reinforce their team. They find themselves embroiled in a relegation scrap and have a few positions where they need new players.
One player who has been heavily linked with an exit from the King Power stadium is James Maddison. The talented English attacking midfielder is subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs which make him a saleable commodity.
Newcastle United are the club heavily linked with a move for the talented attacking midfielder whilst the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal are also interested in acquiring the services of the 26-year-old.
Maddison oozes quality and when in full flow, is a delight to watch. He has the potential to be one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League and needs to be playing at a better club with all due respect to Leicester.
Conte has shown in the past that he likes having attacking midfielders in his squad which give him the flexibility to play in a 3-4-1-2. Maddison can perfectly fit into that role and play the Christian Eriksen role from the Inter Milan system.
Here is what Rodgers had to say about Leicester’s financial situation but he admitted that they have to make the team competitive.
“It’s getting more difficult. The financial resources, not just in the top six, makes it really difficult. Clubs have multiple injections of finances. We have one owner and one family. Each year it gets tougher. It doesn’t soften our ambition to be super competitive.”
Maddison if Tottenham manage to sign him will be a great acquisition. He instantly adds a lot of creativity to the midfield and give Conte a lot of tactical flexibility to switch formations according to the opposition.
