Sporting CP full-back Pedro Porro is a priority signing for Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur have Sporting CP star and Spain international Pedro Porro at the ‘top of the list’ to bolster the backline, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The North London side are looking to bring the 23-year-old to reinforce Antonio Conte’s squad. Fortunately for us, the right-back is keen on moving to Spurs.
However, a deal for Porro in the ongoing transfer window looks difficult. The Primeira Liga outfit are adamant about interested clubs paying the Spain international’s €45 million release clause to sign him. Although, the Portuguese outfit could change their mind in the summer.
The 23-year-old started his career at Girona. After impressing there, Premier League side Manchester City came calling. The Sky Blues signed the right-back in the summer of 2019. However, he did not feature for Pep Guardiola’s team.
Porro spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Real Valladolid. Subsequently, in the summer of 2020, he joined Sporting CP. In Lisbon, the Spaniard has thrived. He has been a first-team regular at the Primeira Liga outfit.
In Portugal, the 23-year-old has mostly played in the wing-back role. In the current campaign, he has made 21 appearances in all competitions for Ruben Amorim’s team, scoring two goals and providing 10 assists.
Matt Doherty has been the preferred choice for Conte at the right-wing-back position in recent fixtures. The Italian head coach has also counted on Emerson Royal a lot this term.
However, neither of them have convinced a lot of fans with their displays. In the recent transfer window, Spurs also added Djed Spence to the squad. Peculiarly, the youngster has not featured much for the North London side.
