Agent of Denzel Dumfries opens up on his client’s future amidst Tottenham Hotspur interest
According to Rai Sport as quoted by Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t football.london), the agent of Denzel Dumfries has provided an update on his client’s situation amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
An offensive-minded right-back, the Dutchman has largely impressed during his stint at the Giuseppe Meazza. Dumfries has made 67 appearances for the Nerazzurri across all competitions, scoring seven goals and assisting 10 more.
His performances at the World Cup in Qatar have caught the attention of Fabio Paratici and the Italian is keen to bring the 26-year-old to north London.
However, Tottenham have been dealt a blow as Dumfries’s agent, Rafael Pimenta, has confirmed that his client is committed to Inter Milan for the time being. It more or less pours cold water on any hopes we might have had to land him this January.
“I think Inter are happy [with him]. Today, he is an Inter player, he has the Nerazzurri colours in his heart. Then we’ll see what happens.”
However, Tottenham can take some heart from the fact that Pimenta also went on to add a rather open-ended statement towards the end of his admission. Should the players’ feelings about Inter change, rest assured, Tottenham will be there to take a punt.
Moreover, it’s wise to assess agents’ comments with a bit of critical thinking. They would hardly want to say anything that puts their client’s immediate or long-term future at risk. Dumfries is, after all, being paid by Inter right now.
The Dutchman’s contract in Italy expires in 2025 and Inter have placed a £53 million price tag on his head. Meeting it will make him one of Tottenham’s most expensive signings in history. Whether the 26-year-old is worth that hype is debatable.
For all his attacking impetus, Dumfries does lack defensive nous at times. Such mistakes are punished heavily in the Premier League and is a risk that Tottenham must be happy to take.
Tottenham have Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal at right-back with Djed Spence adding further depth. To call any of them undisputed starters would be a misnomer and inconsistency plagues the position irrespective of who plays.

Doherty isn’t getting younger while Emerson has flattered to deceive. Spence has potential but is far from the finished product. Bringing in a reliable right-back should be a priority next summer, if not this January.
