Tottenham to face Chelsea competition for Jordan Pickford
According to the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are set to face competition from Chelsea to sign Everton goalie Jordan Pickford as a replacement for Huge Lloris.
Huge Lloris has been Tottenham’s first-choice goalie for many seasons now. After years of consistent performances for the Lilywhites, it looks like age is finally catching up with the French World Cup winner.
The 36-year-old has never been error-free as such. As good a goalie as Lloris has been over the years, it always feels like has an error in him. This has led to some people not really giving the Tottenham captain the credit he deserves.
Jordan Pickford has made more saves from shots inside the box and has a higher save percentage (76.3%) from those shots than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League this season. 🧱 pic.twitter.com/60v1LWV0mF

Tottenham seem to have finally decided that they have to move on from Lloris. It is not reliable for a club aspiring to be at the very top to have an inconsistent goalie and signing a new number one makes sense.
One player who has emerged as the chosen one for Antonio Conte & co. to replace Lloris is Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. The 28-year-old is in a contract stand-off with the Merseyside club.
However, the Lilywhites will not find it easy to sign Pickford due to the presence of Premier League rivals Chelsea. The Blues are keen on signing the English international as their new goalie.
Tottenham going for Pickford makes sense on quite a few counts. The 28-year-old is in the prime of his career and he can have at least 5-6 years of top-quality goalkeeping left in him if all goes well.
However, there is a problem with Pickford. It is the same problem that Tottenham faced with Lloris. Being error-prone is something that has haunted the Everton first-choice shot-stopper for quite some time now.

Pickford signing for Tottenham could go either way. He has the potential to be the perfect replacement for Lloris whilst there is also the potential of it going completely downhill. Only time will tell how it goes.
