Harry Kane speaks on potentially breaking Jimmy Greaves’ long-standing Tottenham record
In an interview quoted by the Guardian, English superstar Harry Kane speaks on potentially breaking Jimmy Greaves‘ long-standing Tottenham Hotspur goal record.
Kane scored his 265th goal coincidentally on the same day that Greaves scored his 265th in the club colours, with his goal against Portsmouth in the FA Cup taking him one goal away from Greaves’ record of 266 goals.
The English superstar needs just one more goal to match Greaves and two more goals to make the record his own. It is almost unfathomable to think he will not do it soon, with Kane having enough and more time to pull clear at the top.
Harry Kane has now scored 265 goals for Spurs, one behind Jimmy Greaves as the club's all-time top scorer.

That would make Kane Tottenham’s all-time top goalscorer. It’s a record that has been Greaves’ for 52 years now but with the English striker being just 29 years old, he can still score many more goals for the Lilywhites.
There have been times in the past when Kane has come close to leaving the club, most infamously in the summer before last when the Tottenham man wanted to join Manchester City.
Kane however has admitted that it doesn’t make sense to think too much about the record and that he is not concerned.
“I try not to think about it – sometimes you can think too much”
It is understandable that Kane doesn’t want to think much about the record. Ultimately, it’s his job as a striker to score goals and when he does well, Tottenham does well. That’s all he’ll want to focus on.
Tottenham now has a glorious chance against eternal rivals Arsenal to make this record his own. He’d love to do it against Arsenal having already netted 14 times against them and don’t put it past Kane from doing just that.
