Tottenham Hotspur make transfer enquiry for Brighton & Hove Albion forward Leandro Trossard

Tottenham Hotspur have made a ‘transfer enquiry’ for Brighton & Hove Albion star and Belgium international Leandro Trossard, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t The Sun].

The 28-year-old was dropped from the Seagulls’ squad during their recent 3-0 win over Liverpool due to issues with his attitude. Roberto De Zerbi, the East Sussex side’s manager, admitted to the same.

Subsequently, Trossard boarded a Eurostar train and headed back to his home country. The forward’s agent admitted that a move away from Brighton would be “beneficial for both parties”. However, the Seagulls’ head coach is open to the Belgian’s return.

As a result, the North London side are monitoring the 28-year-old’s situation at the East Sussex side. Spurs even got in touch with the team from the Amex, but there was no progress regarding a possible deal.

Trossard joined Brighton in the summer of 2019 from Genk. Over the years, the 28-year-old has been a key player for the East Sussex side.

However, in the current campaign, the forward has taken his game to the next level. This season, the Belgian has made 17 appearances in all competitions for the Seagulls, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.

Tottenham have relied heavily on Harry Kane up top in the current campaign. Our other forward’s have been underwhelming or have had fitness issues.

Son Heung-min has not looked at his best for most of the season. The South Korean has struggled to make an impact in the games he has featured in. On the other hand, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison have struggled with injuries.

The loss to Arsenal came as a bitter blow. We created a number of chances in the second half but were unable to take them. Trossard’s situation presents an opportunity for Spurs in the market. But it remains to be seen whether we can get a hold of his signature this month.
