Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte wants Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to follow him if he joins Juventus
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will be immediately on manager Antonio Conte’s radar if he were to join Juventus this summer, as per Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb (h/t Football.London).
Conte’s contract is close to expiring and he could leave as a free agent in the summer of 2023. As per La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t AS), he is being considered as Juventus’ head coach – the club he played for and then went on to manage between 2011 and 2014.
This will certainly be a problematic situation for us given how we just seemed to find some stability with the Italian manager – despite the odd poor result here and there. The three losses in the last eight games across competitions have dampened the mood at N17.
If Conte doesn’t believe the project is right at Spurs and isn’t being backed by Daniel Levy, then there is every chance that he can call it quits at N17. This is just common sense given his domestic success and short stays at Juventus, Chelsea, and Inter Milan in the past.
We can’t let it happen
But to then let Hojbjerg, undoubtedly our best midfielder since he joined us from Southampton, follow him to Juventus would just be salt in the wounds. We simply can’t let this happen.
Hopefully, Levy and Fabio Paratici will move quickly to stop any such transfer from happening. They have been shrewd negotiators at Spurs and have done well to keep our core group of players intact.
The 27-year-old Denmark international also has two-and-a-half years left on his contract at Tottenham (Transfermarkt). One can’t fault for potentially wanting to sign the former Bayern Munich midfielder at Juventus if he was to make the switch to Turin, but not at our expense.

Hojbjerg is crucial to this team and must be kept here at all costs. It would be wise to soon start thinking about a potential contract extension to make sure that no one can try and prise him away from our hands anytime soon.
