Jamie Carragher tears into Tottenham Hotspur skipper Hugo Lloris after Manchester City howlers

Speaking in commentary as quoted by the Mirror, Jamie Carragher has torn into Hugo Lloris for his mistakes in the game against Manchester City insisting that Tottenham must replace their goalkeeper soon.

Tottenham lost 2-4 to Manchester City despite having a 2-0 lead at half-time. It was a horrendous second-half display from Antonio Conte’s team as they are unable to get out of the rut they find themselves in.

One player who just seems unable to catch a break is Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris. His season seems to keep getting worse with every passing game and he got brutally exposed last night.

Lloris was at fault for at least two of the four goals that Man City scored last night and should have done better on both occasions. He failed to collect the ball during the opener which Julian Alvarez scored.

However, that was not his worst action of the day. Lloris simply has no excuses for letting Riyad Mahrez’s shot creep into his near post the way he did. It showed how much the Frenchman is lacking in confidence.

Carragher feels Lloris has become a liability at Tottenham and that the club have to replace him next season

“The goalkeeper for Tottenham right now has been a good goalkeeper for Tottenham. He’s now become a liability and they need to change it”

As the famous Dark Knight quote goes, ‘You can either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain’. Lloris is increasingly running the risk of becoming a villain in the eyes of the N17 faithful.

For many years now, the French shot-stopper has been a solid presence for us both on and off the field but time waits for no one and Lloris on the pitch is looking every one of his 36 years right now.

Sometimes, brutal decisions need to be made for the betterment of the club. Letting go of Lloris is one such situation, and Tottenham need to think with their head rather than their heart in the summer and find someone to take the place in goal going forward.
