Dejan Stankovic lavishes praise for Tottenham loanee Harry Winks
Speaking to the Italian club’s official website as quoted by Football. London, Sampdoria manager Dejan Stankovic has praised Tottenham Hotspur loanee Harry Winks after his football debut for the club.
Winks joined the Italian club on loan for the entire season in the summer and he has had a torrid few months at the club. Injuries have delayed the Englishman’s appearance for the club so far.
After so long, it looks like Sampdoria can finally rely on the Tottenham midfielder. Winks is slowly yet surely establishing himself as an important player for the Serie A club and it looks promising.
Winks made his long-awaited full Serie A debut last night and put in a performance to remember. The Englishman was on full show against Udinese and it was an example of how big a player he can be for the club.
At this point, Tottenham and Sampdoria will be happy that Winks is fit and able to start games as that is the only way this loan move will make sense for either party. So, it is good news that the Englishman made his full Serie A debut.
Speaking about the player, his Serbian manager revealed his happiness for Harry Winks and the fact that he was back out on the pitch.
“I’m pleased for Winks as he’s back playing football again. He’s suffered so much, but he’s given his all to get back and help the team out. I don’t want to heap the pressure on him because we can only get out of this situation as a squad”
Sampdoria are in a relegation scrap finding themselves 19th in the table as things stand. Winks’ return could not have come at a better time for the Italian club but that will not be sufficient for the team.
Winks does not seem to have a future at Tottenham. Even if he returns to N17 at the end of the season, he is likely to be moved on yet again in the summer. Only time will tell what the future holds for the Englishman.

It’s an important step for the player to get fit again and let’s hope he gets regular game time. He is still contracted to the club and that is the only way we will be able to sell him next time.
