Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Queen Park Rangers goalkeeper Seny Dieng
According to The Guardian journalist Will Unwin (h/t Football London), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in 28-year-old Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Seny Dieng.
Current Spurs no. 1 Hugo Lloris has come under scrutiny recently for his underwhelming performances which is partly the reason for the team dropping crucial points in the race for the top four.
Now, many predict that Spurs are looking to add possible competition for Lloris and Dieng is one of the names that have come up on the shortlist to replace the World Cup winner. He is a full international for Senegal, but he hasn’t been playing for the most luxurious European clubs.
Dieng has performed exceptionally well for QPR who are currently on the course for a Championship play-off spot and could be the wildcard that could propel Spurs into the top four. But that can’t be said for sure given his lack of quality top-flight experience in England.
It is not clear whether Spurs would make a play for the player in the current transfer window or would look to add more targets in the frame and leave the acquisition for the summer transfer window.
Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Brentford’s David Raya have also been touted as potential replacements for Lloris but going for either of the targets would have to wait until the summer.
Pickford is England’s first-choice goalkeeper and frankly too good to be playing for an Everton side which is fighting relegation. Raya, on the other hand, has impressed many since Brentford have come back to the Premier League and has earned plaudits for his ability to play out from the back.
Lloris has been an honourable servant to the club and there is no doubt that he would continue to carry his duties till called upon.

However, it does seem like he is moving past his prime and a suitable replacement for the keeper should be high on the priority list for Spurs in the coming transfer window. If Dieng can be that man is questionable.
We signed Lloris when he was arguably in the conversation to be a future European goalkeeping great. Perhaps a name with more experience at the very top level would be a better target.
