Everton ‘furious’ that Tottenham Hotspur hijacked Arnaut Danjuma transfer
Everton have been left ‘furious’ that Tottenham Hotspur hijacked their move for Netherlands international Arnaut Danjuma, claims Birmingham Mail.
According to Sky Sports, Danjuma has joined Tottenham on a loan deal until the end of the season with an option to buy. The 25-year-old is a fine winger with the ability to beat defenders and make his presence count in the final third.
It is a crucial addition for us up front. But it has been said to leave the Toffees ‘furious‘, as they were very close to signing him when Frank Lampard was in charge, and even in the hours after he left earlier this week.
One can understand the move from the Villarreal winger’s perspective. Spurs are in a way better position – 5th – in the league table, while Everton are destined for relegation if their form doesn’t improve.
A wise acquisition
Moreover, he will get the chance to rub shoulders with the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, and Richarlison here – all world-class players he can learn from and combine on the pitch.
They will, however, also be his competition for places. It has become clear in recent months that manager Antonio Conte doesn’t rate Bryan Gil and Lucas Moura very highly when it comes to starting them regularly or even bringing them on in games.
Hopefully, Danjuma is pumped up to prove a point in the Premier League after two fairly decent years at AFC Bournemouth. The Cherries were relegated to the Championship in 2021, which is when he jumped ship to join Villarreal.

It remains to be seen if he will be thrown into the first-team set-up straightaway. Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison have both made comebacks from their injury in the past week but it’s always good to have someone of the Dutchman’s quality on the bench.
