Report: There could be late bids for two Tottenham Hotspur defenders

Monaco are set to submit an official offer for Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez.

Tottenham Hotspur could receive late bids for Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez

Tottenham Hotspur could receive late bids for Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga in the closing hours of the January transfer window.

This is according to Football.London, who state that the two defenders could receive offers late in the window. And it makes sense, given their lack of playing time here.

Eric Dier, Cristian Romero, and Ben Davies have started in a back three when they are fit and available. Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga have played in the trio’s absence.

But they have neither made a case to manager Antonio Conte to be regular starters and neither have they convinced fans that they deserve to be in the starting XI week in, week out.

What should Spurs do?

It seems that Piero Hincapie of Bayer Leverkusen could be joining N17 in the closing stages of the window. If that is the case, it is best to let one of these leave – be it on loan or permanently.

Tanganga is versatile and can play at right-back as well as centre-back. But then again, we have more than enough options down the right flank.

It is unlikely that Sanchez or Tanganga will get regular playing time here. But it’s important that we don’t let both of them leave.

Depth at the back is a must. Injuries can happen at any time and we found it out the hard way just before the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Romero. His absence was a big blow for us.

Moreover, it could be added money for us to then spend in the summer. A loan wouldn’t be shabby either, as either of them could play and develop their game elsewhere before returning to north London.
