Rennes chairman talks about Tottenham Hotspur loanee Djed Spence
As quoted by Football. London, Rennes chairman, Olivier Cloarec, has spoken about the recent loan signing of Tottenham full-back, Djed Spence.
Spence, who is a promising young defender, has joined the French club for the rest of the season in a bid to gain more first-team experience. Cloarec expressed his delight at securing the signature of the 20-year-old.
Cloarec stated that Spence is a player with great potential, who has shown his ability in his limited appearances for Tottenham. He also mentioned that the full-back’s versatility is what makes him an exciting prospect.
The Rennes chairman also praised Spence’s pace, strength, and technical ability, all of which he believes will be a great asset to the team. He also highlighted that the young player has a great attitude and work ethic.
Spence joined Tottenham from Middlesborough in the summer. He really impressed out on loan at Nottingham Forest last season and this prompted Tottenham to pay the money and bring the player to N17.
Here is what the Ligue 1 club’s chairman had to say about the talented player and what they expect from him.
“After the injury of Lorenz Assignon and that of Hamari Traore at the start of the week, additional bad news, we had a need for this position. He is a player that we have been following for a while”
Tottenham have done very well to loan out Spence. He was not getting much game time here. Conte has been very clear that the youngster is not Premier League-ready yet and that he needs time.
That does not underly the obvious potential that he possesses. Right now, we have our new signing Pedro Porro and Emerson Royal for the position and only time will tell how the duo turn out.
