Nedum Onuoha claims Tottenham Hotspur are a ‘weird bogey team’ for Manchester City

Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are a ‘weird bogey team’ for manager Pep Guardiola’s side.

We have recorded four wins in our last seven games against them across competitions. That’s not a poor record considering how good City are.

It’s not like City are completely hapless and defeated against us, but this game just feels like one we should be winning despite the massive quality the Cityzens have.

Onuoha, who was on Manchester City’s books from 2004 to 2012, told BBC (please credit ToTheLaneAndBack for transcript):

“It’s like a weird bogey team for Man City. It’s like some of those games it’s not always the case of Spurs outplaying them and so and but they just have a way of getting results. So for City, based on how the Arsenal game goes today, it’s a big game for them…”

Arsenal ended up losing 1-0 to Everton in the Premier League yesterday in what was just their second loss. Spurs fans won’t like seeing any team winning the league ahead of them.

But there is absolutely no question asked that Arsenal will be at the bottom of the list of teams we would rather see win apart from us. Nevertheless, we aren’t here to do charity and help City towards winning their fifth league title in the last six seasons.

We have ambitions and motives of our own and there is a top-four place at stake in this campaign. Let’s hope our good form against the Cityzens continues and we can sneak a win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, potentially without manager Antonio Conte on the touchline.
