Spurs News: Inter Milan unwilling to fulfil Spurs target Alessandro Bastoni’s wage demands
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni recently, and now, they’ve been handed a boost.
According to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Express), I Nerazzurri are not willing to meet the 23-year-old’s £5million-a-year wage demands. He wants to be one of the team’s best-paid players alongside Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez.
But Inter are only willing to go up to £4million-a-year with their top offer. That could create friction between the two sides and finally help Spurs land their man.
Bastoni currently has around 17 months left on his deal at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium (Transfermarkt). If he doesn’t pen fresh terms, then Inter will be forced to face the fact that they could lose him for nothing pretty soon.
What next for Bastoni?
Hence, they may then be open to letting him leave for something in transfer fees. Otherwise, it would be a financial blunder to let a player of his ability and age profile leave for free.
Spurs should be all over this opportunity if it arises this summer or next year. We could use a left-footed left-sided centre-back who can replace the makeshift option that is Ben Davies.
Moreover, Bastoni isn’t just a player who will increase the depth but he will add real quality to the backline. He is strong in the tackle, defensively pretty astute, and is a strong physical and aerial presence.
We have shopped from Inter Milan last summer when Ivan Perisic arrived on a free transfer but we did not have to negotiate with the club considering the Croatia International was out of contract by then.

It remains to be seen if the Serie A giants are open to letting one of their very best young prospects leave and join Spurs, or any other team for that matter.
