Premier League reject Tottenham Hotspur’s plans of bringing Ben Foster out of retirement
According to Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur’s plans of bringing former England goalkeeper Ben Foster out of retirement have been thwarted by the Premier League.
Last week, the club received the news that their No.1, Hugo Lloris, would be out for up to eight weeks with a knee injury. This has left Tottenham with only one senior goalkeeper, Fraser Forster, to select.
In response to this, the club explored the possibility of signing a new goalkeeper on a short-term contract outside of the transfer window, as it is possible for clubs to register players outside of this period under certain circumstances.

However, this intention of bringing Foster out of retirement has now been ruled out by the Premier League under their current rules, making this news a further blow for the club. Thus the door on Foster seems to be closed.
Foster, who has eight international caps, retired from professional football at the end of last season after Watford’s relegation from the Premier League. He was even offered a deal by Newcastle to play as a backup to first-choice goalkeeper Nick Pope, but ultimately decided to retire from the sport.
Ben Foster, who was born in Leamington Spa, England, started his career at Racing Club Warwick before signing for Stoke City. He then moved on to play for various other clubs, including Wrexham, Mansfield Town, and Watford before finally signing for West Bromwich Albion in 2011.

Foster’s retirement from football was a big loss to the sport, as he was a talented goalkeeper and had a successful career. He was known for his shot-stopping abilities, reflexes, and quick decision-making, making him one of the most respected goalkeepers in the league.
Fraser Forster did not have the best of performances against Leicester City at the weekend when he let in four goals to the Foxes. Tottenham will be hoping that their backup goalie can step up in the upcoming games.
