Tottenham Hotspur learn the asking price for Brentford goalie David Raya
Tottenham could be in for a busy summer transfer window, as they look to improve their squad and mount a title challenge next season. One player who has recently been linked with a move to North London is Brentford’s goalkeeper David Raya.
The Brentford boss, Thomas Frank, spoke highly of the Spanish shot-stopper ahead of the Premier League clash against Arsenal as quoted by Football. London, and also gave an update on his future.
Frank stated that Raya is a player he hopes will stay at Brentford forever, but the reality is that this may be difficult given the contract situation. Raya is reportedly valued at £40 million, if not more, which could pose a challenge for Tottenham.
David Raya has made at least 15 more saves than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League this season, including four against Liverpool.

Raya has been a standout player for Brentford this season, helping his side to maintain a strong defensive record. He has made a number of key saves and has shown his ability to command his area and provide a calm and composed presence between the sticks.
With the ball at his feet, Raya has to be one of the very best in the Premier League, if not the world. Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager famously said that the Spaniard can play as a number 10.
Given Tottenham’s current struggles in the goalkeeper department, Raya could be seen as an ideal addition to the squad. He is a very different goalie from Hugo Lloris but he has a lot of potential and a relatively high ceiling.
Speaking about the player’s future to Football Daily, here is what Brentford manager Thomas Frank had to say
“If he turns it down twice that’s a signal he doesn’t want that. I thought we put two really good offers out there but that’s fine it’s a free world we can’t force anyone”
“I hope he will stay forever of course that looks like it could be very difficult with the contract situation he must be at least £ 40 million if not more.”
However, Tottenham will have to weigh up the cost of acquiring Raya, and whether he is worth such a high transfer fee. Raya has been linked with a number of other top-flight clubs and so competition for his signature is expected to be fierce.
