Chelsea enter the race for Tottenham Hotspur’s January transfer target Marcelo Brozovic
Chelsea are now interested in signing Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Spurs were interested in making a deadline-day move for the Croatia international. Brozovic, nevertheless, ended up staying at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.
Now, Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea are watching the 30-year-old’s situation at Inter Milan. His contract doesn’t expire until the summer of 2026 (Transfermarkt).
The defensive midfielder’s passing ability and reading of the game make him a very good addition to any team’s midfield. Brozovic has finished at the FIFA World Cup podium twice and is on course to become a legend of Croatian football.
Brozovic to Spurs?
He has also played under current Spurs manager Antonio Conte during their time at I Nerazzurri. He would know all about the veteran midfielder’s quality on and off the ball.
He would be a brilliant candidate to compete for starts with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur. Or, he could start alongside them in a flat midfield three.
But we must pay careful attention to Chelsea’s apparent interest in the player. The Blues could lose Jorginho and N’Golo Kante this summer on free transfers and could perhaps use an equally experienced player
Spurs must, hence, do everything in their power to make sure Brozovic is sold by the project we have brewing here in N17. Qualifying over Chelsea for the UEFA Champions League next season could also help our case.
