Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Cristian Stellini was satisfied with the performance of Lucas Moura in the loss to Sheffield United in the FA Cup.

The Brazil international started the match against the Blades at Bramall Lane. Unfortunately, Spurs lost 1-0 in the fifth round and were knocked out by the Championship outfit.

Speaking after the loss via football.london, Stellini revealed that the game against Sheffield was the right time to include the former Paris Saint-Germain forward.

“We need Lucas like all the players. We thought this was the right moment to use Lucas from the start. His effort was good.

“The effort from our team every time is good and we can’t be disappointed about this. It’s about the energy and the mentality and how we are focused on the win during the game.”

Moura started alongside Richarlison and Son Heung-min up front. The trio were unable to unlock Paul Heckingbottom’s team’s defence. While we had a few chances, our forwards were unable to capitalise on them.

Having signed from PSG in the winter window of 2018, the 30-year-old has established himself as a key player over the years. The Brazilian has been ever-present in Tottenham’s starting lineup.

However, in the current campaign, Moura has hardly featured for Spurs. He has struggled with injuries and has made cameo displays off the bench for most of the season.

The match against the Blades was just the Brazilian’s third start of this term. Unfortunately, the 30-year-old was unable to do much and was substituted in the 73rd minute for Dejan Kulusevski.

Unfortunately, in the 79th minute, Iliman Ndiaye found the back of the net and gave Sheffield the lead. Even with the likes of Harry Kane on the pitch in the second half, we were unable to get anything out of the game.

The North London side seem to have a lot of depth in the attack. However, apart from Kane, none of our forwards, including Moura, have done enough. It remains to be seen whether the Brazilian will get any more opportunities for the rest of the campaign.
