Antonio Conte sends a message to Tottenham Hotspur fans after getting the sack
As quoted by popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Antonio Conte has sent a message to Tottenham fans after his exit from the club wishing them the very best for their future.
Conte left the club on mutual agreement with the club confirming that the Italian manager had been relieved of his duties. Cristian Stellini was named his replacement at least until the end of the season.
As it so often does when it comes to Conte, the Italian coach’s relationship with the club turned sour. It reached a point where there seemed to be no future for him at Tottenham any longer.
Conte was expected to stay at least until the end of the season but his explosive rant against the players following a 3-3 draw against Southampton was the last straw, following which he seemed to have lost the dressing room.
Not everything that Conte did or said in the latter part of his tenure at the club seemed to go down too well with the players or Daniel Levy and it was more a question of when rather than if he would leave the club.
Upon his exit, Conte sent a message out to the fans thanking them for their support and wishing the club the very best in the future.
“Football is passion. I thank everyone at Spurs who appreciated and shared my passion. Special thought to the Fans who always showed me support and appreciation, unforgettable to hear them singing my name. I wish you all the best for the future”
Conte’s time at the club might not have ended well but he must be given some credit for the work he did with the squad, especially last season, leading them to a top-four finish despite taking over in a dire state.
The former Inter Milan manager also transformed the mentality and the fitness at the club. Tottenham will reap the benefits of his efforts in this regard for many more seasons under the new manager.
