Tottenham Hotspur ‘confirm’ pre-contractual agreement with Manchester City starlet Herbie James
Tottenham Hotspur have ‘confirmed’ a three-year-long contract with Manchester City forward Herbie James ahead of the summer transfer window, as per Football.London.
James is believed to be highly rated in Manchester City’s youth set-up, where he represented the U16 team. Manchester City’s academy have come up with some real talents in recent years.
While the likes of Phil Foden and Liam Delap have seen first-team action, they have let players such as Pedro Porro and Brahim Diaz leave for other clubs. Hopefully, James proves to be a similar mistake on their part.
The deal represents smart thinking from Spurs who would be wise to start planning for the future already. Son Heung-min (30) and Harry Kane (29) cannot keep playing forever with the latter’s long-term future at the club uncertain.
James to Spurs?
Moreover, Troy Parrott and Dan Scarlett’s hype has cooled down after they showed promise in our academy. The former is on loan at Preston North End while the latter signed a year-long loan deal with Portsmouth last summer.
Spurs are currently without a manager. Well, technically, Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason will be looking after things, but the club will need to bring someone in full-time in the summer.
Hopefully, it is a manager focused on honing young talent and giving them chances. We have players such as Bryan Gil and Djed Spence who were overlooked during manager Antonio Conte’s reign.
