Interim Tottenham Hotspur boss Cristian Stellini laments two points dropped against Everton

Speaking in the post-match press conference as quoted by Daily Express, interim Tottenham Hotspur manager Cristian Stellini lamented the fact that his side dropped two points against a struggling Everton side.

Tottenham took on Everton in the Premier League last night. In what a very ill-tempered affair from start to finish. Both teams each saw one player being sent-off and the game eventually ended 1-1.

The visitors had taken the lead through a Harry Kane penalty, but Lucas Moura’s red card changed the game’s dynamics. The Brazilian had a night to forget as Tottenham were forced to settle for a point..

Stellini channelled his inner Antonio Conte during his post-match press conference and didn’t hesitate to call out some of his players’ performances, stating that his team needed to control the game much better, particularly against ten men.

He expressed frustration at his team’s inability to secure a victory, saying

“My feeling now is that we have lost two points this evening because with 11 men against 10, we have to control the game much better. We tried to, but not in the way I expected.”

The Spurs manager’s post-match comments focused on his team’s missed opportunity to get all three points against an Everton side that was down to ten men. Stellini believed that his team needed to do better in the second half.

Although the draw against Everton was not the result Tottenham was hoping for, the Italian manager remains optimistic about his team’s chances of making it into the top four this season.

Tottenham’s failure to secure all three points was partly due to their inability to capitalize on their dominance in the first half. The visitors looked threatening and created several chances, but they failed to convert them into goals.
