Cristian Stellini believes Tottenham Hotspur can make top four with “attacking football”
Tottenham Hotspur acting head coach Cristian Stellini believes that the North London side can make it into the top four with “attacking football”.
At the moment, Spurs are three points behind Newcastle United and Manchester United, who are third and fourth, respectively. The two teams have a game in hand over us, but there is still a long way to go in the campaign.
Speaking to the media via Express, Stellini, who took charge of the team after Antonio Conte’s departure, has no doubt about Tottenham’s chances of attaining Champions League football.
“We could do it. We have to play eight final games like eight finals. We have to play attacking football. We are trying to push more to create more chances, to try to shoot more on target, to create something that can create a good atmosphere in the stadium and to get the crowd behind us.”
With eight games to go for Spurs in the season, the business end is upon us. We have no other competitions that will take our focus away from the league.
On the other hand, Man United have to play in the FA Cup and Europa League as well. Also, some of the Red Devils’ crucial players have picked up injuries recently.
As for Newcastle, they are in a meaningful top-four chase after several years of being a club fighting for relegation. As a result, this will be a relatively new experience for some of their players. The pressure at the end of the season can get to many a team.
Tottenham took their chance and closed the gap on the top four with the 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion. While we were arguably a bit lucky, the players got the job done.
Similarly, Spurs have to go out and win all of their games by hook or crook. Al we can do is get the maximum points from our remaining fixtures and hope the teams above us slip up.

It remains to be seen whether Stellini can change the North London side’s style of play with only a few games to go. Under Conte, we usually played counter-attacking football. However, with the abundance of talent the Lilywhites have up front, it should evidently not be an issue.
