Tottenham Hotspur to battle Manchester United for LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David
Premier League rivals Manchester United are joined by Tottenham Hotspur in the race for LOSC Lille star Jonathan David, according to L’Equipe via Caught Offside (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils are keen on acquiring the Canada international’s services in the upcoming transfer window. However, along with the North London side, the 23-year-old is also on the radar of Chelsea.
The striker has been in fine form this season for the Ligue 1 outfit. As such, Les Dogues have set a price tag of £57 million to part ways with him ahead of next summer.
United’s front line consists of Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst up top. At the moment, the French and Holland nationals are the only two natural strikers at Erik ten Hag’s disposal.
The former AS Monaco star has struggled with injuries in the current campaign and has been on the sidelines a lot. On the other hand, the Burnley loanee is on a temporary move at the Old Trafford side until the end of the season.
As for Tottenham, our attack has an abundance of talent. However, only Harry Kane has been able to live up to expectations in the 2022/23 campaign. Our other forwards have been underwhelming.
Son Heung-min has looked like a ghost of his former self. As for summer 2022 signing Richarlison, the Brazilian has failed to hit the ground running since his move from Everton. We also have Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Moura and Arnaut Danjuma at our disposal.
David made his way to Lille in the summer of 2020 from KAA Gent. Since then, the forward has developed into a prolific goalscorer. In the current campaign, he has found the back of the net 23 times in 34 appearances in all competitions.

For now, Tottenham seemingly do not require another number nine in the squad. However, with Kane and Son not getting any younger, it remains to be seen whether the Canadian will be an option for the North London side in the coming future.
