Jamie Redknapp tells Tottenham to hijack Arsenal move for Declan Rice
Speaking to Football. London, Jamie Redknapp has urged Tottenham Hotspur to hijack Arsenal’s move for talented English midfielder Declan Rice.
With the club having endured a mixed season, a number of players have been linked with a move to Spurs in an effort to bolster the squad and improve their fortunes.
One such player is West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, who has been a standout performer for the Hammers in recent years. The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium.
While Arsenal are believed to be leading the race for Rice, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp has urged Spurs to hijack their North London rivals’ move for the England international.
Speaking about the situation, here is what Redknapp had to say about the talented midfielder at Tottenham
“In the summer, whatever they do, Spurs fans want to see them surely – as an example, Declan Rice is available. Now, Arsenal are in the mix – why can’t Spurs be in the mix? That’s the sort of level of player they need to be trying to acquire. That’s what they should be doing right now but I just don’t think that’ll happen.”
It’s hard to argue with Redknapp’s assessment. Rice is a player of immense quality and has proven himself to be one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League. He has been a mainstay in the West Ham team for several seasons and has played a pivotal role in their impressive campaign this year.
But what would Rice bring to Tottenham? First and foremost, he would add some much-needed solidity to the midfield. Tottenham have struggled in that area this season, with a number of players failing to consistently perform at the required level.
In addition to his defensive capabilities, Rice is also an excellent passer of the ball. He has a keen eye for a killer pass and is capable of unlocking even the tightest of defences. With Tottenham’s attacking players often starved of service this season, Rice’s ability to dictate play from deep could prove to be invaluable.

Of course, there are obstacles to overcome if Spurs are to sign Rice. If we manage to sign him though, it’ll be perfect for Tottenham.
