Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur vying for AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali
AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali is apparently attracting interest from three London clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea said to be interested in the player.
As per 90min (h/t the Express), the three Premier League clubs are vying for his signature as the summer transfer window draws closer. He has been likened to Serie A legend Andrea Pirlo, who made his name at AC Milan and Juventus during a storied career.
Tonali, 22, is one of the best deep-lying playmakers in his age bracket. The 14-cap Italy international can recycle possession, kickstart counterattacks, and pick out attackers with long, incisive passes from deep.
He would certainly add a loth of depth and quality to our team. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is currently our only fit midfielder whom we can call truly world-class.
What should Spurs do?
One season-ending injury to Rodrigo Bentancur was all it took to our derail our season. Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr are two good young midfielders but clearly lack the quality needed right now to be regular starters for us. Yves Bissouma, meanwhile, has been disappointing his season and has had his fair share of time on the sidelines with injury.
To add to that, we have three midfielders – Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks – out on loan. Whoever Spurs’ next manager is should prioritise quality over quantity in midfield.
Tonali, whose contract runs until June 2027 (Transfermarkt), is certainly quality. He has been a regular feature in I Rossoneri‘s midfield in recent seasons, including the 2021-22 campaign where they won the Serie A.

We have to be ready with impressive financial offers for AC Milan and Tonali that they can’t refuse. That is because Spurs who are already devoid of silverware since 2008, may lack what Arsenal won’t next season – UEFA Champions League football. Chelsea, meanwhile, are 12th in the table.
