Napoli have already started looking at replacements for Tottenham Hotspur target Alex Meret

According to AreaNapoli, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old Italian has been in excellent form for the Serie A side this season, helping them to the cusp of winning the league title and reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Meret’s performances have caught the eye of the North London club, who are keen on bolstering their goalkeeping department. Now, Italian journalist Ciro Venerato has revealed that Napoli are already looking at potential replacements for the shot-stopper.

Despite the interest from Tottenham, Venerato believes that Meret will end up staying with Napoli next season. The Italian club hopes to keep hold of their first-choice goalkeeper, who has been a reliable performer for them in recent seasons.

If Tottenham were to sign Meret, he could prove to be an upgrade on Hugo Lloris, who has had a poor season for the Premier League side. The 36-year-old French international has made a number of costly errors, which have ultimately cost Tottenham valuable points.

Meret, on the other hand, has been a consistent performer for Napoli and has the potential to be a solid long-term addition to the Tottenham squad. The opportunity to showcase his qualities in the Premier League could be an attractive option for the player.

However, Tottenham must ensure that they qualify for the Champions League next season in order to attract top-quality players. Meret is highly likely to win the league title with Napoli and could play in the Champions League with them next season if he stays.

Despite the interest from Tottenham, it seems unlikely that Meret will leave Napoli this summer. The Italian club will be keen to keep hold of their first-choice goalkeeper, who has been instrumental in their success this season.

However, with the right bid, Meret can be tempted to make the trip across to England and become our new goalkeeper. Let’s see if that happens.
