Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur ‘monitoring’ Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White
Tottenham Hotspur are apparently ‘monitoring’ Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Tricky Trees had a very busy summer transfer window after being promoted to the Premier League. Among those was the £25million arrival of Gibbs-White from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Now, Forest are under threat of being relegated to the Championship as they have amassed just 30 points from 34 games and sit 18th in the Premier League. According to Daily Mail, via Football.London, Spurs are monitoring the English playmaker’s situation.
Gibbs-White has shown time and again that he is a very good No. 10 who can create and score goals for his team. He just seems to have that aura in the final third which compels one to think that something positive is about to happen whenever he has the ball.
Gibbs-White to Spurs?
He is a smart dribbler with ample pace and passing skills to be a nightmare for opposition defenders, especially when he drops into pockets just behind the forwards. A player like him at Tottenham would be brilliant.
We lack that profile – a pure No. 10 like prime Dele Alli or Christian Eriksen during his heyday in N17. Our midfielders aren’t as attack-minded as Gibbs-White. If we really are seriously pursuing him, then Spurs will hope Nottingham Forest don’t survive in the Premier League this season.
Dropping down one level to the Championship is an obvious turn-off for quality players like Gibbs-White – although relegation doesn’t mean top players will leave their clubs. But it certainly boosts the chances of their exit.

One problem is that he signed a five-year deal last summer (Transfermarkt), which would undoubtedly give Forest a big say in his future – unless there are clauses in it that activate if the team get relegated. That would be brilliant. But one can imagine the 23-year-old won’t be short of suitors this summer.
He has impressed this season, registering four goals and six assists in 36 games.
