Anderlecht and Standard Liege want to sign Tottenham starlet Romaine Mundle
According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Anderlecht and Standard Liege want to try and sign talented Tottenham Hotspur youngster Romaine Mundle in the summer on a free transfer.
Mundle is a young winger who has been playing in the Spurs academy since he was a teenager, and he is now considered one of the brightest prospects in the club’s Under 23 squad. However, he is yet to renew his contract.
The 20-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season in the development squad, contributing eight goals and five assists in 32 appearances, and his performances have not gone unnoticed by other clubs.
His current contract with Spurs is set to expire next month, and the club had been keen to tie him down to a new deal amid reported interest from other Premier League sides. However, there seems to be interest from foreign as well.
Anderlecht and Standard Liege have reportedly made personal terms offers to the winger. The two Belgian sides are said to be among a number of European clubs racing to sign Mundle on a free transfer from Tottenham.
While it would be a shame for Spurs to lose such a promising talent, it is understandable that Mundle is looking for first-team football guarantees, which may be hard to come by at Tottenham, given the club’s current roster of talented attackers.
In the brief time that Cristian Stellini was in charge of the first team, Mundle was among those called up to train with the senior squad, and it was even suggested that he could be set for some minutes on the pitch for the first team this season.
If he does end up moving on, Tottenham will have to accept that they have lost a player with huge potential, who could go on to achieve great things at another club. This has happened to us before with the likes of Noni Madueke.

If the club are able to convince Mundle that he will have a real opportunity to play for the first team in the near future, it could be enough to persuade him to sign a new deal. However, it seems that the ball is now firmly in the court of the young winger. Let’s see what he decides.
