Paulo Fonseca linked with the Tottenham job yet again
According to But! Football Club, Paulo Fonseca has been linked with the Tottenham Hotspur managerial job yet again after also being an option for the club in 2021.
Fonseca was a frontrunner for the job back in 2021, but the club eventually went with Nuno Espirito Santo instead. However, the former AS Roma and Shakhtar Donetsk boss could be back in contention this time around.
Fonseca is assumed to have lost the chance to coach Tottenham back then due to the presence of the then-newly-appointed Fabio Paratici. The duo reportedly did not share the same principles when Fonseca was last linked with the job.
However, Paratici is no longer with the club after resigning from his post following his ban on football activities by Italian football authorities. With Paratici out of the picture, it will be interesting to see how the club approaches the situation.
Daniel Levy, the chairman of the club, will be under immense pressure to make the right appointment. The next manager will have a significant impact on the club’s future, including the future of star striker Harry Kane.
The English striker has been linked with an exit from the club due to a lack of ambition here. Unless we appoint a world-class manager, Kane could choose to move to pastures new to try and win trophies.
Fonseca has had a mixed managerial career so far. He has had his ups and downs during his managerial stints but continues to remain as one of the managers that Tottenham are scouting this time around.
Fonseca has a reputation as a tactically astute coach who is not afraid to take risks. He favours a possession-based attacking style of play, which could suit Tottenham’s attacking players like Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.
