According to SIC Notícias, Sporting CP are already planning for a managerial replacement in the situation of their current manager Ruben Amorim leaving the club for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

The Portuguese club have identified Bruno Lage as the main candidate to replace Amorim. Lage has been without a job since his departure from Wolverhampton Wanderers in October, and he could be the man to fill the void if Amorim leaves for Tottenham.

The club hierarchy are aware of Amorim‘s rising stock and is keen to be prepared in case he departs for Tottenham. Lage is not a bad alternative to have and he can get the team playing some good football.

Amorim has been a revelation at the club, leading them to their first Primeira Liga title in 19 years. His innovative tactical approach and excellent man-management skills have drawn praise from all quarters, and it’s no surprise that he has attracted the attention of Tottenham.

However, it remains to be seen whether Amorim would be willing to leave Sporting Lisbon for Tottenham. He has only been in charge of the club since March 2020, and he may feel that he still has unfinished business there.

On the other hand, Tottenham’s interest in Amorim is a clear indication of the club’s ambitions. They are looking for a manager who can bring stability to the team and implement a clear playing style.

If Amorim does leave for Tottenham, Sporting CP would be losing a talented manager, but they would be in safe hands with Bruno Lage. Lage has a wealth of experience in Portuguese football, having managed Benfica and Moreirense before his stint at Wolves.

The situation between Tottenham and Sporting is one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks. It’s clear that Amorim is on Tottenham’s radar, but the London club will have to reach an agreement if they want him.
