Journalist says Arne Slot might leave for Tottenham due to this one reason

Speaking to FR12.nl, journalist Martijn Krabbendam has revealed that Arne Slot was open to leaving Feyenoord when Leeds United came calling a few months ago, and could be open to a move to Tottenham.

The exit of Antonio Conte in April has left the North London club scrambling to find a suitable replacement, with numerous names being thrown around as potential candidates. However, one name that has gained traction in recent weeks is Arne Slot, the current head coach of Feyenoord.

Martijn Krabbendam has revealed that Slot was open to leaving Feyenoord when Leeds United came calling a few months ago, which is why he could be tempted to leave if a similar offer comes his way this summer.

Krabbendam has stated that while his gut instinct is that Slot will remain at Feyenoord, an exit cannot be ruled out at the end of the season. Feyenoord are aware of Tottenham’s interest in the Dutchman, and they are reportedly making an “ultimate attempt” to convince him to stay by offering him a substantial salary increase.

As a Tottenham fan, the prospect of Arne Slot taking over as manager is an exciting one. Slot’s style of play is based on a high press and possession-based football, which could suit the Tottenham squad well.

Speaking about the situation, here is what Krabbendam had to say about Slot and his chances of becoming the Tottenham boss

“In my gut, I say Slot will stay. He gets everything he wants. Van de Belt, Zerrouki, his assistant has extended his contract. And he himself is also still fixed until 2025. There is no reason to assume he would want to leave. But when Leeds came in winter, he was open to that. If another club like that comes from England with a lot of potential, I don’t rule out him still wanting to try”

The North London club has struggled to find consistency this season, but with the right manager, they could still finish in the top six and secure a Europa League spot for next season. A Champions League spot seems out of bounds though.

One thing that could work in Tottenham’s favour is the fact that Slot has expressed a willingness to work abroad. Let’s see if Daniel Levy views the Dutchman as the perfect option for the vacancy.
