Transfer News: Dejan Kulusevski will return to Juventus after Tottenham Hotspur loan
Dejan Kulusevski will apparently return to Juventus at the end of the season after his 18-month loan at Tottenham Hotspur expires.
This surprise claim is made by Italian outlet Corsport via Tuttojuve, who state that Tottenham have made it clear that they will not exercise the purchase option of 35million Euros.
Spurs were apparently intent on making the deal permanent last summer but opted to delay. Kulusevski has fulfilled the obligation of playing more than 45 minutes in 50% of Spurs’ games this season.
But the second part of that – qualifying for the UEFA Champions League – seems next to impossible. We are sixth in the table and trail fifth-placed Liverpool by five points with just three games left in the season.
This will be a surprise
One can’t blame Spurs fans if they have taken for granted that Deki is their own player for the long run. He has been a brilliant addition to the team and has looked a class apart down the right flank whenever he has played for us.
Of course, the addition of Richarlison hasn’t done his playing time any favours but Antonio Conte still stuck with the Swede in important games. Injury issues meant it was rare that we had all four forwards available throughout this season.
With Conte gone, it could be difficult for Spurs to retain the 23-year-old. He was the manager who signed him from Juve, and Fabio Paratici, who oversaw the deal, also left the club earlier this season after FIFA extended his 30-month ban from football activities worldwide.
This will be a surprise if it happens. Barely any Tottenham fan will defend the club if they opt to let Kulusevski return. He is young, dribbles very well, creates chances for his teammates and knows how to finish.

Finding a player of his ilk in his age group for the aforementioned fee would be hard for Spurs. Very hard. Even if we take the financial hit of not making the top four this season, there is no excuse for Tottenham to not sign the Juventus loanee permanently because he has done nothing to warrant anything other than that.
