Tottenham Hotspur will have ‘free run’ at Julian Nagelsmann if they fulfil two demands
Tottenham Hotspur believe they will have a free run at Julian Nagelsmann if they fulfil his two demands, as per the Daily Mail (h/t the Express).
The 35-year-old is in the running to become Spurs’ boss for a while now. First thing he wants from Spurs is to have a new sporting director.
Fabio Paratici left the club earlier this year after FIFA extended his 30-month ban worldwide. Secondly, Nagelsmann wants to know the level of control he will have over recruitment – and he will want to have a fair bit of that. Spurs’ board must make sure they don’t intervene needlessly in this area.
If Spurs do that, they will apparently have a free run at signing the former Bayern Munich manager. It remains to be seen if he actually comes to N17.
Nagelsmann to Spurs seems on
If he does, then it is proving to be a hard sell to get him to Spurs. Otherwise, he would have agreed to the terms by now. Nevertheless, he is a manager with a proven track record.
And by that, we don’t mean just trophies, which he won at Bayern Munich during his short stint. He made Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig two of the most attractive teams in Germany during his stints there.
Spurs need something like that. We are currently lacking an identity and a manager who can lead the players by example. Antonio Conte didn’t look like he was in it for the long run from day 1.
We need someone committed to the project here, who understands the position Tottenham are in and that it will take time to achieve great things. Daniel Levy must give Nagelsmann the keys to the project here because if anyone can rebuild Tottenham’s second great side this century, it is the German tactician.
