Pre-match press conference: Ryan Mason bats away question about Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski’s future
First things first, there is a chance that Dejan Kulusevski doesn’t remain a Tottenham Hotspur player next season. He could return to Juventus this summer.
The Sweden international was signed on an 18-month loan from Juventus in January 2022 by Antonio Conte. His contract has a 31million Pounds option to buy and the deal becomes permanent if certain conditions are met.
He has played more than 45 minutes in 50% of Spurs’ Premier League games this season. But the club look set to miss out on UEFA Champions League next season, trailing fourth-placed Manchester United by six points and having played one more game.
Sticking to the theme of his pre-match press conference this weekend, Ryan Mason refused to give a proper, straightforward answer when he asked about the 22-year-old’s future at N17. He said, via Football.London:
What next for Deki?
I’m not sure about that to be perfectly honest [if Kulusevski will stay at Spurs]. The general feeling is that Deki is a Tottenham player so those conversations, like many other conversations about other players, will come at the end of the season.”
It could all depend on who we get as the next manager. If it is, even if the fans don’t want it, Ryan Mason, then he would be someone who has seen him up close and been with him since Day 1 at Tottenham.
If not, it remains to be seen if they recommend Daniel Levy to spend the sum on making Kulusevski’s transfer permanent, or if they use that fund on another player(s).

The summer window brings with it the opportunity to sign free agents. If there is a chance to save a huge sum on Kulusevski and replace him properly, then fans can perhaps understand if Spurs let him go. If not, it is very, very hard to find a 23-year-old with his ability and in that price range.
